Prime Medical products are made with BioSmart®, a specialized antimicrobial textile technology that is designed to harness the power of chlorine to resist bacteria and viruses during use or wear. Developed, patented and produced by Milliken & Co., BioSmart® fabric is a smarter solution for healthcare textiles like Privacy Curtains, Scrubs and Lab Coats. Simply by laundering with EPA-registered bleach, the fabric binds chlorine for up to 12 weeks, resists fading, and the technology remains durable through a minimum of 75 industrial wash cycles.
Bottom line: It’s simple, sophisticated and superior … because all it takes to make it work, again and again, is good, ol’ fashioned bleach!
QUESTIONS? WE'VE GOT ANSWERS
Chlorine-Shield Privacy Curtains, Scrubs and Lab Coats by Prime Medical are made with a patented antimicrobial textile technology called BioSmart®. When the products are laundered with EPA-registered chlorine bleach, the fabric binds chlorine molecules for up to 12 weeks with each wash. The chlorine retained on the fabric inhibits the growth and spread of bacteria and viruses, and the fabric resists fading – so even black and navy scrubs can be safely washed with bleach and stay true to their colors.
The chlorine bound to the fabric inhibits the growth and spread of odor-causing bacteria and viruses. Independent lab testing has demonstrated that when BioSmart-treated products are laundered according to care instructions with EPA-registered chlorine bleach*, the retained chlorine is effective against common bacteria and viruses including:
- Salmonella Choleraesuis
- Escherichia Coli
- Staphylococcus Aureus
- Klebsiella Pneumonia
- Hepatitis A
- Feline Calicivirus (Norovirus surrogate)
* When laundered according to care instructions on the label of EPA-registered bleach.
The fabric technology recharges with chlorine during each washing so it is always functioning at full strength.
Yes! The fabric technology has been rigorously tested and passes ISO skin irritation and skin sensitivity tests. BioSmart technology has not been tested for allergens. If an allergic reaction is suspected, the individual should discontinue use.
No! The fabric binds chlorine without retaining a bleach odor. After laundering with bleach per instructions, the fabric is sanitized and shielded for a lasting defense and a confident clean.
